Outreach Coordinator
Compassionate and encouraging, abby hamburg (he/him) enjoys helping young people find their voice. Overcoming the many barriers of providing expansive services in a rural county, he has been serving the youth of Wiyot Territory for over 8 years. Earning his BA in Communications at Cal Poly Humboldt, minoring in Multicultural Queer Studies and Social Advocacy, his experience spans a variety of community agencies including Changing Tides, Boys and Girls Club, Humboldt Domestic Violence Services, Suicide Prevention Network and Allies for Substance Use Prevention. Uplifting and positive, he is also an advocate for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth. abby joined Evolve Youth Services as a Child Family Specialist and Outreach Coordinator in 2017. Nominated by our local Child Abuse Prevention Coordinating Council, he won the Congressional ‘Child First’ award in 2023. Maintaining strong connections through the lenses of harm reduction, restorative justice, and mutual aid, he brings therapeutic trauma-informed services to the forefront of his job. He values the radical ways Evolve Youth Services’ focuses on the healing of an entire family. With much variation in age, gender identity, family dynamics and life experiences, all clients require such an individualized approach. abby appreciates the opportunity to get to know each family and brainstorm which local resources they would most benefit from.  “Like tilling soil for a garden bed, each plant may have a different need, a little more water here, more sunlight there, but when tended to carefully, they all have the ability to lay down strong roots to grow and thrive in a nourishing environment.”
